Turn Off the Cooling System

Use the thermostat to stop active cooling.

If you have little or no airflow, hear unusual sounds, or are unsure whether the indoor blower is operating properly, leave the cooling system off until it can be evaluated.

Allow the Ice to Thaw Completely

A lightly frozen system may thaw relatively quickly. Heavy ice buildup can take several hours or longer.
